Dr. Stein is a renowned hematologist-oncologist at City of Hope, where he serves as Associate Director of the Gehr Family Center for Leukemia Research and Professor in the Division of Leukemia within the Department of Hematology & Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation. Since joining City of Hope in 1985, Dr. Stein has dedicated his career to advancing care for patients with acute leukemias and myelodysplastic syndromes, with a particular focus on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Educated at the University of Cape Town Medical School in South Africa, Dr. Stein completed his residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh and a hematology/oncology fellowship at City of Hope. He now leads and collaborates on numerous clinical trials, studying innovative therapies for acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Dr. Stein is known for his commitment to patient-centered care and excellence in clinical research. He has been recognized for his contributions to therapeutic studies and holds memberships in leading professional societies, including ASH, ASCO, and the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
